Sabres sign Darche
- Updated: July 22, 2008
While the Sabres still haven’t announced a coaching staff for Portland, they have begun signing players, good players, too, who could potentially find themselves in a Portland Pirates uniform.
The Sabres haven’t made the official announcement, yet, but it looks like they’re holding up their end of bargain, signing Mathieu Darche to a one-year contract with Buffalo. It will be a two-way deal, meaning he’ll most likely be heading to Portland as depth player and veteran.
Darche, 6-1, 210-pound native from Montreal, played 73 games last season for the Tampa Bay Lightning, scoring seven goals, 15 assists for 22 points.
Two year’s ago, he was in the San Jose system playing for the Worcester Sharks where he had a career season, scoring 35 goals, 45 assists for 80 points in 76 games.
