Maine Hockey Journal is a digital media content provider that specializes in providing up-to-date news, scores, highlights and informative commentary on the sport of hockey from the state of Maine.

Established in 2006 MHJ has been at the forefront of the digital media revolution in the sport of hockey, providing unprecedented coverage of the Portland Pirates (AHL), University of Maine Black Bears (Hockey East), Maine’s NCAA Division III programs as well as High School and Junior hockey programs from around of the state.

Maine Hockey Journal is truly your only source for everything hockey in Maine.

Biography:
Chris Roy – Founder & Beat Writer
Chris is entering his 10th year in sports journalism. Prior to that, he spent his days as a collection agent, both in the field and behind a desk, but he decided it was time to find a new and exciting challenge. Chris began writing for MVN, an online magazine, covering sports from a fan perspective. After building the respect of his peers, he began covering the Portland Pirates, Portland Sea Dogs, auto racing and high school sports for several news organizations including Biddeford’s Journal Tribune and York County Coast Star. Believing that hockey was not getting enough coverage by local media he ventured out on his own with the formation of Maine Hockey Journal with Nathan Fournier. Chris continues to run the day-to-day operations as well provide content on a daily basis.

Chris attended Southern Maine Community College and the University of Southern Maine earning his degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences.

Nathan Fournier — Enterprise Writer
Nathan is an original partner at Maine Hockey Journal and has been instrumental to the growth and success of the e-zine since its inception. Nathan began his stint at MHJ as the main beat writer of the Lewiston Maineiacs and UMaine Black Bears. He’s also covered high school and junior hockey from around the state. Nathan is currently an enterprise writer, providing in-depth content for MHJ. Nathan is a 2006 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School where he spent three years as the hockey team’s equipment manager. He went onto earn his bachelor’s degree in Communications at the New England School of Communications in Bangor, ME with a concentration in sports journalism and has been published by several hockey publications, including The Hockey News, USCHO and USA Hockey. He also ran The World of Junior Hockey blog.
