UMaine seeking goals against New Brunswick
- Updated: October 23, 2015
The University of Maine men’s hockey team will try to gain some confidence and a scoring touch at 7 p.m. Friday when it entertains the University of New Brunswick’s Varsity Reds for an exhibition game.
UMaine coach Red Gendron will be looking for improvement from his team, which was easily handled by No. 14 Quinnipiac University from the ECAC 4-0 on Tuesday night in Hamden, Connecticut.
Quinnipiac outshot UMaine 40-20 including 19-4 in the first period.
The Black Bears are off to an 0-2-3 start while the Varsity Reds are 4-0. UNB defeated the AHL’s Portland Pirates, 5-3, while also earning a 5-2 exhibition win over Boston College. They suffered a 3-2 loss to UMass-Lowell. UNB has won four Canadian national championships the past nine years and was the runner-up to Alberta a year ago.
