Pirates announce training camp roster

The Portland Pirates announced its training camp roster on Monday afternoon.

The Pirates, who are entering the first year of a new four-year affiliation agreement with the Florida Panthers, will hit the ice for first time Tuesday morning at the OA Sports Center in Saco.

The Pirates will have 25 players taking part in camp including several players invited on a professional tryout.

The team will only have one full practice on Tuesday before playing their first preseason game on Wednesday against the Providence Bruins at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Mass.

The Panthers still have 31 players remaining in training camp and need to get down to their 23-man roster prior to Oct. 10 when they begin the regular season against the Philadelphia Flyers. Florida will play their final preseason game Saturday (Oct. 3) against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
