Pirates release training camp schedule

Pirates - Panthers LogoThe Portland Pirates released its schedule for their upcoming training camp on Tuesday.

Players will report to the OA Sports Center in Saco on Sunday, September 27. They will undergo medicals and fitness testing on Monday, Sept. 28 and hit the ice for the first time on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 10:30 am.

The Pirates are in the first season of a new four-year affiliation with the Florida Panthers.

The Panthers, who have 43 players remaining in training camp, assigned four players – Yann Sauve, Wade Megan, Chase Balisy and Colin Stevens – to the Pirates on Monday. Rob Flick, John McFarland, and Sena Acolatse have been released and will be assigned to Portland pending waivers on Friday, Sept. 25.

Preseason Game: Portland Pirates vs. Univ. of New Brunswick – 7:00 p.m. (OA Sports Center)

Fri., Oct. 2 – Practice @ 11:00 a.m.

Sat., Oct. 3 – Practice @ 10:30 a.m.
Scrimmage @ 11:25 a.m.

Sun., Oct. 4 – Practice @ 10:30 a.m.

Mon., Oct. 5 – Portland Pirates Second Annual Charity Golf Tee Off (Spring Meadows Golf Club, 59 Lewiston Rd., Gray, ME)

The Pirates are expected to release its training camp roster later this week which will likely include another round of cuts from the Panthers. The Pirates will play a preseason game against the Providence Bruins on Wed., Sept. 30 at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Mass at 7:05 pm. Portland will return to the OA Sports Center for an exhibition game against the University of New Brunswick on Thurs., Oct. 1 at 7:00 pm.

The Varsity Reds roster includes Francis Beavillier and Cameron Critchlow, both former members of the defunct Lewiston Maineiacs.

Practices will be open to the public.
