Local players named to QMJHL rankings

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday its final Central Scouting Rankings for the upcoming Entry Level Draft that will be held on June 7 in Sherbrooke, Que.
There were a several local connections on the list.
Two of the University of Maine newest recruits were rated as second and third round prospects.
Ethan Crossman, who committed last week, was ranked 31st. The Sackville, New Brunswick native had seven goals and 19 assists in 34 games with the Hounds who play out of Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.
At the Canada Winter Games with New Brunswick, he had two goals and four assists in seven games played. At the QMJHL Gatorade Excellence Challenge, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound 15-year-old had three goals and two assists in five games.
He was drafted by the Sioux Falls Stampede with the 22nd selection in Tuesday’s USHL Phase II Draft.
His teammate with the Notre Dame Hounds Adam Dawe was ranked 47th overall that places him in the third round.
The 15-year old, 5-foot-5, 129-pound forward from Gardner, Newfoundland had 18 goals and 14 assists in 35 games with the Hounds.
He captained Team Newfoundland at the QMJHL Gatorade Excellence Challenge where he had two goals and five assists in five games. He also had ten goals and three assists for Team Newfoundland at the Canada Winter Games this winter where he was also the captain.
He went in the 14th round to the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Tuesday.
Both players are slated to come to Orono in 2017-18.
Fellow recruits Jack Moran and Jake Pappalardo were listed under Americans that are eligible.
Jack Moran is a 6-foot-4, 210-pound defenseman who had five goals and 20 assists in 26 games this past season. His USHL rights belong to the Omaha Lancers and is scheduled to play for the Middlesex Islanders of the USPHL Premier League.
He is another recruit in the 2017 class.
Pappalardo is a 17-year old out of Proctor Academy in Andover N.H. In his second season with the Hornets Hockey Team, the 5-foot-10 180-pound forward had 29 goals and 33 assists for 62 points. He was drafted by the Fargo Force in the 12th round.
He will come to Maine in either 2016 or 2017.
There were three players that call Maine home that were listed.
Liam Darcy, a defenseman out of Berwick, who plays for Berwick Academy, had two goals and six assists in 26 games this season. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound, 18-year-old University of New Hampshire recruit for next season is also the 204th ranked North American skater for the upcoming NHL Draft June 26-27.
Two schoolboy hockey players were named in Bangor sophomore goaltender Derek Fournier. The 6-foot-0, 170-pound Fournier helped the Rams to Eastern Class A Regional Finals as the team had a 13-7-0 record. Lewiston High School defenseman Alex Rivet, who had three goals and three assists in 19 games as the Blue Devils fell to the St. Dominic Academy Saints in the Eastern Class A regional final.
Players that sign in the QMJHL forfeit their NCAA eligibility.
