- Updated: January 24, 2011
Anybody who watches the Portland Pirates knew today’s announcement by the American Hockey League that Mark Mancari was named AHL Player of the Week.
In four games, Mancari scored eight goals, two assists for 10 points while registering a plus-7 rating for the Pirates, while currently on an 11-game scoring streak, which is a personal best.
The London, Ont native solidified the player of the week award when he registered back-to-back hat tricks on Saturday and Sunday help the Pirates regain first place in the AHL’s Atlantic Division.
The 25-year old forward is now the AHL leader in goals scored and ranks third in scoring with 26 goals, 25 assists for 51 points in 42 games for the Pirates.
The sixth-year pro has totaled 145 goals and 203 assists for 348 points in 404 career AHL games all with the Buffalo Sabres affiliates in Rochester and Portland, and has added six points in 19 NHL games with the Sabres, including one assist in three games this season.
