Maine moves up in polls; Flynn named HE player of the week

The University of Maine men’s hockey team moved up in the polls this weekend after defeating Providence College, 4-3, in OT, then beating No. 3 Boston College, 4-1, on Sunday night.

The Black Bears climbed from No. 13 to No. 10 in the USCHO.com poll and No. 11 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine.

Forward Brian Flynn, after his stellar performances in the two games over the weekend, was named Hockey East Player of the Week. Flynn scored two goals in his team’s first game against Providence, including the game winner in overtime. Then on Sunday, Flynn earned himself a well deserved assist on the game’s first goal and then scoring the game’s third goal against the Eagles. In the end, the junior forward ran away with five points (3G, 2A) over the entire weekend.
