Greely completes weekend sweep

Falmouth, ME – Greely boys’ varsity hockey team continued their strong play by besting Presque Isle, 5-1, at Falmouth Family Ice to remain unbeaten (8-0-1) in regulation.

Presque Isle scored first just 2:06 seconds into the game when Wildcats’ scoring leader Isaac Lajoie stole the puck from the Greely defense near center ice and with only goalie Matte Labbe to beat, Lajoie skated into the zone and made a sweeping deke move across the crease, putting it into the back of the net.

Greely held the majority in shots for the remainder of the period, along with holding possession for significant stretches.

The Ranger tied the game at 1-1, beating Presque Isle goalie Josh MacFarline with 11.2 seconds left in the period.

Justin Murphy brought the puck into the offensive zone and left a drop pass for Devyn Rogers, who then left another drop pass for Kenny Richards, ripping a low shot just under the blocker of MacFarline.

Greely added a pair of goals in the second and third periods to take a 5-1 lead.

Matt Labbe had 21 saves on the night for Greely as they improve to 8-0-1 in league play.
