Colby made it a laughing matter over UNE

Senior Billy Crinnion has a five-point night with a goal and five assists as Colby College handed the University of New England an 11-1 drubbing at Alfond Rink in Waterville.

Junior Tom McGinn scored twice for Colby, who picked up their third win of the season after receiving goals from 10 different players as they snapped a four-game losing skid.

Leading 2-0 after one period, Colby scored four times in the second and five more goals in the final frame.

Karl Burns (1G, 3A), junior Mike Doherty (4A) and first-year Jack Bartlett (1G, 3A) contributed four points apiece in the victory.

First-year Sean Sullivan prevented a shutout for the Nor’easters, notching a goal in the second period to push his team-leading point total to 12. Sophomore Russ Franey assisted on the play.

Colby senior goaltender Cody McKinney recorded 22 saves for the win.

Senior Mike Roper had 30 saves in two periods for UNE, falling to 1-9-0 on the season, and first-year Cody Violette added 15 in the third.
