Bowdoin ranked No. 7 in USCHO preseason D-III poll

The Bowdoin College men’s ice hockey team was the lone representative from Maine to be named in the USCHO.com preseason D-III poll after being ranked No. 7 on Monday.

Bowdoin is coming off a solid season last year, going 19-7-1, and making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2002.

Bowdoin should have a promising season as several key players will be returning including six of their eight top scorers’ from a year ago.

Kyle Shearer-Hardy will be a key returnee, who finished the year with 30 points (8g, 22a) in 24 games and was named an All-American, along with NESCAC Rookie of the Year Daniel Weiniger and last year’s leading goal-scorer Jeff Fanning, who finished the season with 15 goals.

Owen Smith will join Shearer-Hardy as a co-captain for the 2010-11 campaign.

The season gets underway for Bowdoin at Watson Arena on Nov. 19 when they play host to UMass-Boston.
