Polls split after Maine’s opening weekend
- Updated: October 12, 2010
It was an up and down weekend for the Maine Black Bears.
Maine began the season ranked No.7 in both the USCHO.com top-20 poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, but each went in different directions after Maine opened their season at Alfond Arena.
After a win against conference rival UMass-Lowell on Friday, and a tie against ECAC upstart University of Connecticut, the Black Bears fell one spot to No. 8 in the USCHO.com poll, however, they moved up one spot in the USA today/USAHM poll to No. 6.
An 8-2 win over UMass-Lowell, and a 3-3 tie to UConn led to the inconsistency by the pollsters.
Boston College remained No. 1 in both polls ahead of North Dakota, Michigan, Miami (OH) and Yale.
The Black Bears will head to East Lansing, Michigan for a weekend match up against the Michigan State Spartans.
