Maine ranked #2 in Hockey East preseason poll

Hockey East held their media day at the TD Garden in Boston today, and the University of Maine men’s ice hockey team was ranked No. 2 in the Hockey East preseason coaches poll.

Maine earned one first place vote, while Boston College, defending national champions, received nine as the No. 1 ranked team in the poll.

The University of New Hampshire was ranked third followed by Boston University and Northeastern.

On Monday, USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine released their Top-15 preseason poll where the Black Bears where ranked No. 7 in the nation.

Boston College, North Dakota, Miami (OH) University, Michigan and Yale were the top-5 teams.

Maine will play their lone preseason game on Oct. 3 at Alfond Arena. The regular season begin starts on Oct. 8 as the Black Bears face UMass-Lowell at Alfond Arena in Orono.
