Maineiacs still winless on the road

The Lewiston Maineiacs are still winless on the road.

Lewiston had a chance for the win, holding a two goal lead at one point, but could only managed to earn a point after losing in a shootout, 5-4, to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at the Dave Keon Arena in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec on Wednesday night.

The Maineiacs held a one goal lead entering the third period, but 57 seconds into the period, Rouyn-Noranda scored the only goal of the period, tying the game at 4-4 when Robbie DeFulviis, beating Champion.

Lewiston began the game, giving up a tough goal early, a shorthanded goal, when Jessyko Bernard beat goalie Nicholas Champion less than 20 seconds after Maxim Kazakov went to the box for interference from the bench.

Sam Henley brought the Maineiacs even with a power play goal at 8:40 of the first period, assisted by #1 overall QMJHL draft pick, Dillon Fournier.

At 13:40, Rouyn-Noranda regained the lead, 2-1, when defenseman Jason Kelly scored his first goal of the season.

The Maineiacs scored three goals in the second period, beginning with Christophe Lalonde, scoring his first goal of the season since his return from a five-game suspension at 4:10 of the period.

Sam Carrier gave Lewiston a 3-2 lead at 8:34 of the second period, beating Rouyn-Noranda goalie Mickael Audette.

Cole Hawes extended the Maineiacs lead by two goals, 4-2, at 12:25, but Alexis Bernier pulled the Huskies back to within a goal just 29 seconds later.

Both teams were scoreless in overtime, sending the game to a shootout DeFulviis scored the only goal. Sam Carrier, Pierre-Olivier Morin and Jess Tanguy were all stopped by Audette.

Champion took the loss, making 24 saves, while Audette stopped 20 shots for the win.

Lewiston went 1-for-4 on the power play. Rouyn-Noranda was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
