Nyquist Named All-New England

The honors continue for University of Maine men’s ice hockey sophomore sensation Gustav Nyquist (Malmo, Sweden), who was named to the 2009-10 New England Men’s Division I All-Star Team on Friday. The honor comes just two days after
Nyquist was named to the 2010 Hobey Hat Trick.

Nyquist leads the nation in scoring with 19 goals and 42 assists for 61 points. He has been named a unanimous selection to the 2010 Hockey East First Team. He finished as runner up for Hockey East Player of the Year and earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Tournament Team.

Nyquist has been named to both the 2010 College Hockey News First Team, along with being named to the All-America First Team.

Nyquist tallied a point in 32 of Maine’s 39 games this season. He was held scoreless in back-to-back games just once. Nyquist had a 10-game scoring streak and a pair of seven games streaks this season.

Nyquist will head to Detroit next week for the presentation of the 2010 Hobey Baker Award. He joins New Hampshire Bobby Butler and Wisconsin’s Blake Geoffrion as the finalists. Nyquist is the lone sophomore among the three.
