Pirates get back to their winning ways

Tyler Ennis scored the game winner on an overtime power play to lift the Portland Pirates to a 2-1 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 4,733 at the XL Center.

Marc-Andre Gragnani scored the other goal and added an assist for the Pirates, who ended a two-game losing streak with the win.

Portland improved to 34-18-5-3 on the season. Gragnani’s goal extended his point scoring streak to five games (4-3-7).

Dale Weise netted the lone goal for the Wolf Pack, losers of two straight overtime decisions. Hartford is now 26-26-5-4 on the season.

The two teams were scoreless through one. Gragnani opened the scoring with a power-play goal midway through the period but Byers answered 64 second later to send the two teams into the third tied at one. A scoreless third period set the stage for Ennis to decide it two minutes into the extra five minutes.

The Pirates out shot the Wolf Pack 25-20 in the game as Jhonas Enroth posted the win.
