Rautenberg, St. Hilaire Receive ECAC Men’s East Weekly Recognition

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced late Monday afternoon that it has recognized University of Southern Maine sophomores Dan Rautenberg (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Mason St. Hilaire (Saco, Maine) for their outstanding play during the week of February 15-21. The ECAC office announced that Rautenberg had been selected as the ECAC Men’s East Player of the Week, and St. Hilaire had been tabbed as the league’s Goalie of the Week for the second time this season.

The pair helped the Huskies sweep Wesleyan University and Trinity College on the final weekend of the regular season to move into the fourth and final home ice berth in the championship tournament that begins this weekend. The Huskies overcame a three-point deficit in the standings and leaped over Skidmore College for the final home ice berth.

Rautenberg scored the first goal and had two assists in a 4-1 win over Wesleyan, and assisted on both goals in the Huskies’ 2-1, overtime win over Trinity. The five points moved Rautenberg to the top of the Huskies scoring list with 10 goals and 16 assists.

St. Hilaire, who previously was named Goalie of the Week on January 18, allowed two goals and made 46 saves in the two wins. He had 19 saves in the win over Wesleyan, and made 27 stops in the Huskies’ first-ever victory over Trinity. St. Hilaire sports a 3.23 goals against average with a .904 save percentage and a 7-4-1 record.

The Huskies, 10-12-3 overall and 7-9-3 in the ECAC Men’s East regular season, host fifth-seeded Skidmore, 8-15-2 overall and 7-10-2 in league play, on Saturday (7:00 p.m.). The two sides played to a 3-3, overtime tie at Skidmore in their only regular season meeting on two weeks ago.
