Leidermark named Rookie of the Week in Hockey East

University of Maine freshman forward Klas Leidermark (Gavle, Sweden) was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday, Feb. 1. He joins Adam Shemansky (Robbinsville, N.J.) who has also been named Hockey East Rookie of the Week this year.

Leidermark had two goals and two assists as Maine had a win and a tie at Vermont.

Leidermark tallied his first career goal and dished out a pair of assists in Maine’s 6-3 win over Vermont on Friday night. He assisted on Kyle Beattie’s (Avondale, Ariz.) game-winning goal and earned second star honors. On Saturday, he scored a goal at 10:07 of the third period to cut the Maine deficit from 4-2 to 4-3. Tanner House (Cochrane, Alberta) then went on to notch the game-tying goal just over five minutes later.

Leidermark has two goals and four assists for six points in 17 games this season for the Black Bears. His six points rank third on the team among rookies in scoring.
