Bowdoin jumps all over UNE early and often

The Bowdoin College men’s ice hockey team scored five times in the opening period on its way to a 7-1 victory over the University of New England Saturday afternoon at Biddeford Arena. The Polar Bears, who scored five times in a span of 8:05, improve to 8-4 this season.
Senior Colin MacCormack had two goals and one assist to pave the way for the Polar Bears. Adding three-point afternoons for Bowdoin were sophomore Graham Sisson and first-year Robert Toczylowski, who each had a goal and two assists. Junior Jeff Fanning and sophomores Erik Olson and Aaron O’Callahan rounded out Bowdoin’s goal-scorers. Senior Leland Fidler and junior Kyle Shearer-Hardy each dished out a pair of assists.
Bowdoin senior goaltender Christopher Rossi ran his record to an unblemished 5-0 with 19 saves. The Polar Bears outshot the Nor’easters 54-20. First-year Dallas Ungurian and junior Mike Roper split time between the pipes for UNE. Ungurian allowed five goals while making 32 saves. Roper surrendered a pair of scores and came up with 15 stops.
