Alexander Beaton traded to Gatineau, Lewiston acquires Bissonette

The Lewiston Maineiacs made another move Thursday sending Alexander Beaton to the Gatineau Olympiques along with a seventh round pick in 2011.

Lewiston receives a 2010 3rd round pick.

Beaton in his third season with Maineiacs had 10 goals and 20 assists in 39 games this season.

The team also acquired Matthew Bissonette from the Chicoutimi Sagueneens to complete the three team deal along with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. The team sends a first, third, and fifth round pick in 2010 to Chicoutimi.

Bissonette who Chicoutimi acquired earlier this winter from Moncton, didn’t report to Chicoutimi. With the Moncton Wildcats this season, he has 4 goals and 14 assists in 28 games.

It also looks like Lewiston Maineiacs will be without Ian Saab, and Zachary Evans-Renaud.

“They won’t be here tonight,” Jean-Francois Houle said about Saab and Evans-Renaud. “Hopefully by Friday they will be here.”

Houle likes their potential.

“I don’t know much about them, I went through our scouting program and read what the scouts said who saw them play,” Houle stated. “They are young players, they are two ’92 defensemen, one will bring some grit and the other got some offensive potential.”

Michal Hlinka was stuck at the border last night en route to Lewiston.

“We don’t know if we will have in the line-up tonight,” Houle stated after Thursday’s morning skate. “Hopefully he shows up ready to play and if he is, we will play him.”

Adrien Lemay will be tonight’s starter against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
