Maine earn weekly awards with strong play

The University of Maine men’s ice hockey team continues to roll through their opponents, winning their fifth straight game over the weekend with a 5-1 defeat of Northeastern University.

Maine improves to 7-4-1 in Hockey East (9-7-1 overall).

What been more impressive is how the Black Bears have beaten their oppenent using special teams and strong defensive play. Maine has been scoring on the power play at an amazing rate, going 11-for-22 over their last four games, likewise they’ve only allowed five goals in their last five games.

Besides the defenseman, credit must be given to Scott Darling who has found his groove as of late, going 5-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .958 save percentage.
