Colby improves to .500 with win over Salve Regina

Five different players scored to lead the Colby College men’s ice hockey team to a 5-1 win over Salve Regina in the second day of the Bowdoin/Colby Faceoff Classic at Sidney J. Watson Arena on Sunday. The Mules improve to 2-2-0 while the Seahawks fall to 1-4-0.

Colby scored a pair of goals in the first period to take an early lead. Billy Crinnon knocked home a rebound on the doorstep at 4:51 to get the Mules started. At 16:19, Corey McGrath fed Nick Kondiles in front for a one-timer to give Colby a two-goal advantage after 20 minutes.

The Mules notched a powerplay goal early in the second period when Jeoffrey Jarnot went five-hole at 4:37. McGrath and Dan Nelson scored third period goals for the Mules, sandwiched around a 5×3 tally by Salve’s Tyler Trott to round out the scoring.

Ben Bradley made 36 saves in the loss for the Seahawks while Cody McKinney collected 22 saves for Colby.
