Maine Notebook: More postgame coverage from the 3-3 draw

Robby Dee was a hero last night according to his teammates and coach.

“We were down on the bench for a while,” said Gustav Nyquist. “Letting in three goals there and Robby scores on the powerplay and the crowd (goes) nuts again. It was a momentum boost for us.”

It was huge for us,” said Tanner House. “We had the lead in the third and they came back. They stole the lead from us and it’s easy to get down when that happens. We were able to bounce back and that goal lifted us.”

“It was a big boost to our team.” Adam Shemansky said. “Unfortunately we couldn’t get the two points but one is better then none.”

“It’s always important to bounce back when the other team scores,” Tim Whitehead said. “We’ve been burned by that and it was a huge swing in momentum for us. It gave us a lot of motivation to try to win the game. We weren’t able to get that fourth goal but it’s a step in the right direction.

Carbon Copy of last night’s first period

I thought the two first periods were very similar. Maine had multiply powerplay chances both nights and couldn’t convert.

“I thought we actually came out good last night,” Whitehead said. “We just didn’t capitalize one the 5-on-3’s. We had a good start both nights. Again tonight we weren’t able to score but we felt we got out of the gate and carried the play.”

Nyquist thought the team played better from the start.

“We came out so strong tonight,” Nyquist said. “I felt it was our best period ever played this year. Especially the first we were all over them. Like I said, you can’t fall asleep against BC; they will make you pay for it.”

Black Bears know they let one slip away

“We definitely not satisfied at all,” said Robby Dee. “We gave them five minutes in third and we let them comeback into the game. I took that penalty and I definitely owed Scott (Darling) one.”

“We are happy with our effort,” said Tanner House. “I think we worked hard for the full sixty. At the second I thought we had a little lapse and they gain some momentum.”
