Maineiacs Notebook 11/7/09

Wednesday night against Montreal, Don MacAdam was pleased the way the defense played missing Samuel Finn for most of the game.

“They were fine,” MacAdam said. “Our defense is coming along nicely.”

One of the defensemen that played well over the two games was Zach Shannon.

“Shannon was in there (Wednesday),” he added. “He hadn’t played the last couple games and he played very well. He moved the puck. When you don’t play in a couple of games you are rusty but he was fine.”

MacAdam can’t argue with the referee’s decision on the game misconduct to Finn.

“You are not allowed to pull a player’s helmet off during a fight,” MacAdam added. “Sam did that and it was the right call.”

H1N1 versus attacks Moncton Wildcats locker room

The Moncton Wildcats had to cancel last Sunday’s game against the Montreal Juniors and their games this weekend due to the Swine Flu.

“We received confirmation from the Moncton Wildcats organization (Tuesday) that the two infected players and the others who have shown symptoms have been removed and isolated as recommended by public health officials,” said QMJHL Commissioner Gilles Courteau in the league’s press release.

The Maineiacs have been taking the necessary precautions.

“We’ve been working very closely with our doctor Paul Cain and our medical staff,” said MacAdam. “Tom Bourdon has done a great job of taking all preventive measures at this point. We’ve been doing this for over a month.”
