Three Stars of the Week: Week ending 10/18/09

#1 Star: Oliver Wahlstrom – Pee Wee Major 97’s Portland Jr. Pirates

Oliver_Wahlstrom_99S_Major_white_mediumWahlstrom has been the center of media attention for much of the month after he performed a difficult trick shot known as “The Michigan” – a named after Michigan player Mike Legg performed the shot in 1996 – at a mini one-on-one event in Boston at the TD Bank Garden.

What’s more amazing is Wahlstrom is only nine-years old and has appeared on ESPN’s First Take, CBS Morning Show as well as taking the internet by storm.

He added three more points on the night before he was done, giving Portland a 6-3 win. He finished the night with three goals, one assist and the #1 star on the night.

He went scoreless on Saturday in Manchester, but so did the rest of the team, falling 4-0 to the Monarchs, but he rallied with a goal on Sunday in Providence as he was one of the lone bright spots in a 7-2 loss to the P-Bruins.

Ennis, 20, was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of last year’s NHL Entry Draft.

#3 Star: Nathan Gerbe – Portland Pirates

Nathan GerbeGerbe and Tyler Ennis found instant chemistry on Friday night as they help the Pirates to a 6-3 win over of the Hartford Wolf Pack.
