MHJ Three Stars of the Week – Ending 09/20/09

#1 Star: Billy Lacasse – Lewiston Maineiacs

Billy Lacasse Billy Lacasse had a strong week for the Lewiston Maineiacs with a goal and three assists for four points as he helped guide the Maineiacs to a 2-0 record with a pair of wins against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

On Friday, the Maineiacs captain assisted on the game-winning goal in OT as Lewiston came from behind to defeat Baie-Comeau, 3-2, in the Maineiacs home opener. The next night, Lacasse was once again a force as he netted a goal – shorthanded – and two assists in a 4-1 win.

#2 Star: Adrien Lemay – Lewiston Maineiacs

Adrien Lemay Adrien Lemay is going to be expected to carry a large load for the Lewiston Maineiacs this season and so far he hasn’t disappointed. In his opening weekend at the Androscoggin Colisee, we went 2-0-0 with a 1.47 goals against average and a .954 save percentage.

He stopped 30 of 32 shots as the Maineiacs battled back for a 3-2 OT win over Baie-Comeau on Friday. It was even a better performance on Saturday when he stopped all but one shot, making 32 saves against the Drakkar.

#3 Star: Connor Brogan – Portland Junior Pirates

Connor_Brogan_h187s_large_small Brogan, 10/12/89, had a strong start to the Jr. Pirates season, getting a shutout in the opening game of AJHL action against the Laconia Leafs, stopping all 29 shots as Portland beat Laconia, 3-0 on Wednesday night.
