The season hasn’t started but 2011 Maine recruit Darcy Ashley is putting his name on the score sheet. In three pre-season games he has three goals and three assists for the Summerside Western Capitals. The Capitals open up their season on Saturday night.

Speaking of 2011 recruits, Cam Brown opens up his season with the Boston Advantage. They will be participating in the Hub City Junior Showcase.

Woodstock gets goals from familiar names

Although the Maritime Junior “A” Hockey League season opens this weekend, the Woodstock Slammers are participating in the Woodchuck Classic in Vermont. This tournament brings teams across Canada and the EJHL. They defeated the the CD Selects 6-1. Dylan Fitzpatrick, Nick Huard, and Sean Stagles all scored.

Former Recruit is charged with sexual misconduct and child endangerment

Patrick McEachen, who was scheduled to come to Maine for the upcoming season before de-committing for Clarkson is in trouble with the law. The 18-year old allegedly had sexual contact with a 16-year old girl on the campus of Clarkson.

Clarkson officials on Monday said the school is cooperating with police and conducting its own investigation. The school could penalize Mr. Ciccarello and Mr. McEachen based on their findings. The players’ status with the hockey team was unclear.

Mike Lundin signs with Tampa Bay

The former Black Bear has signed a one year contract with the Tampa Bay Lighting on Thursday. In 106 NHL games, he has eight assists. During his Maine career, he had 13 goals and 56 assists in 160 games.

QMJHL games will no longer be free

QMJHL and Telus announced pricing this week for the webcast telecasts.

The opening games, which will be played on September 10 and 11, available on qmjhl.mytelus.com will be free. Starting on September 12, hockey fans will be able to watch QMJHL games for as little as $3.95* per game (archived games) or to subscribe to the entire season including the playoffs for $199.95.

To purchase a single game will cost $6.95.
