The second round of cuts are made

Lewiston, ME – After the third and final scrimmage, the roster has been cut down to 35 players. The team released four players after the game including Philip Wright, Tommy Dery, Justin Cloutier, and Marc-Andre L’Hereault.

“One of the toughest things I have ever had to do was let Philip Wright go,” said Maineiacs’ General Manager Roger Shannon.

Maineiacslogo - 772x772 Philip Wright made the team out training camp last season as an 18-year old, where in 34 games last season, he went 5-4 with a 3.10 goals against average, and a .883 save percentage.

“I am going to do my best, in the next little while to place him on a team,” mentioned Shannon.

All four players will be placed on waivers Saturday morning.

“To quickly to explain the waiver process,” said Shannon, “what it does is give all 17 teams in the league an opportunity to say, know what I like this kid, I want to bring him over.”

Tommy Derry played in 25 games last year, recording two goals. Marc-Andre L’Hereault played in five games last season with the Maineiacs, scoring no points. Justin Cloutier played in one contest last year for Lewiston.

NOTES: The Maineiacs head to Drummondville tomorrow to face the Voltigeurs at 7:30pm. The two teams come down to Lewiston on Sunday to finish the home and home series. Face-off is 4pm.
