Orono, ME – University of Maine women’s ice hockey coach Dan Lichterman has announced that the program has received a commitment from defencemen Chloe Tinkler of Wabush, Newfoundland & Labrador. Tinkler will skate with the Black Bears in the fall of 2009.

“Chloe is a smooth skater who has great offensive instinct,” said Lichterman. “She has a tremendous upside to her game and she is a great character kid off the ice.”

Tinkler served as captain for the Labrador West Midget Lakers for the past two seasons, leading her team to a pair of Midget B championships. She also served as an assistant captain for Team Atlantic in the 2008 National Under 18 Hockey Championship, after winning the Hard Hat award at the Challenge Cup.

The eligibility of all student-athlete is contingent upon admission to the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
