New York gets Chased out of the building

Bensenville, Illinois– Mike Chase of Falmouth had another strong game on Friday with two goals and an assist in the 6-2 victory over New York.

Northern New England finished the round robin portion of the Showcase undefeated with a 3-0 record.

Austin Mandigo (Stow, VT) got Northern New England rolling with a powerplay marker eleven seconds into the contest. Jamie Knight (Hanover, NH) got the lone assist.

Mike Chase would strike just before the midway mark of the first stanza with an unassisted man advantage marker.

He would strike early in the second with an even strength tally, 2:14 into the middle frame. NYA’s Christoffer Linder set the goal up. Stefan Lutzenkirchen of Brewster Academy made it 3-0 at the 5:46 mark of the second. Bridgton’s Thomas Paine got the primary assist and Knight got the secondary

Anthony Sgaraglio cut the deficit to three as he got New York on the board at the 11:49 mark of the second period. Stephen Castriota set the tally up.

Cody Sharib (Needham, MA) got Northern New England’s third powerplay tally with 3:16 left to play in the second.

At the 6:11 mark, Joseph Carrabino got New York’s second goal. Jesse Petito got the only helper.

Just before the 9:20 mark of the third, Scarborough’s Jacob Rutt made it 6-2 on the team’s fourth powerplay tally of the game. Hebron’s Chad Goodwin got one assist and Chase got the other assist.

Brian Fleming who plays for Kents Hill made 19 saves on 20 shots. Patrick Dunn (Quincy, MA) made 11 shots as he took over Fleming for the second half of the game.

Tim Carr made 31 saves as he backstopped New York’s net.

Northern New England could possibly play two games tomorrow in the quarter-final and semi-finals. The Championship game is slated for 9 a.m. on Sunday.
