Dumoulin and Gelinas to the NHL Combine

New York, NY– Late Thursday night, the NHL announced the invitation list for the NHL Draft Combine which will be held from May 25-30 in Toronto.

On the list is Biddeford native and Boston College recruit Brian Dumoulin and Lewiston Maineiacs defenseman Eric Gelinas.

Dumoulin is the only invitee from a Tier III Junior A league. With the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, he had seven goals and 23 assists in 41 games. In the EJHL playoffs, he notched three assists.

At the Tier III Juinior A National tournament, he added a goal and four assists in five contests.

To top the year off, Dumoulin was named the EJHL defensive player of the year.

Eric Gelinas entered the 2008-2009 campaign as a second year player with the Maineiacs. It was a breakout year as he scored ten goals and added 29 helpers in 68 contests. In his rookie year, he had three goals and 16 assists in 54 games.

The first round of the NHL Draft takes place Friday June 26th in Montreal and rounds two through seven on Saturday June 27th.

USHL Playoffs Underway

The USHL playoffs got underway Thursday night between Maine recruit Derek Arnold’s Waterloo Blackhawks and the Green Bay Gamblers. Green Bay won 4-1 and Arnold was a -1. He had three shots on net.

The only other Maine recruit battling for the Clark Cup is Johnnie Searfoss of the Fargo Force. The Force open the series up against the Omaha Lancers.
