Maine’s season comes to an end

Boston, Mass– After the Maine Black Bears fough hard the previous two nights, the Boston University Terriers ended the Maine’s season with a 6-2 victory Sunday night.

Boston University had six different goal scorers. Colby Cohen scored his seventh of the year 58 seconds into the contest, John McCarthy and Brandon Yip got the assists.

Spencer Abbott responded for Maine with his seventh of the season on the powerplay at the 14:19 mark. Simon Danis Pepin and Jeff Dimmen recorded assists.

Yip gave the Terrier the 2-1 lead with 3:55 to play in first. Nick Bonino and John McCarthy set the goal up. The eventual game winner came off the stick of Joe Pereira. The assists were rewarded to David Warsofsky and Luke Popko.

Corey Trivino made it 4-1 at the 9:15 mark of the second period. Matt Gilroy and Chris Connolly got their first points of the contest. Zach Cohen made it 5-1 1:49 later Gilroy and Warsofsky eached picked up their second assist of the night

Bonino got an unassisted tally with 4:56 to play in the second.

Gustav Nyquist would add the Black Bears second tally with 2:40 to play left in their season. Tanner House was awarded the only assist.

Scott Darling turned away 20 shots. He was relieved by AJosh Seeley who stopped both shots he saw. Kieran Millan made 24 saves.

Boston University goes onto play arch rival Boston College at 8pm Friday night in one Semi-Final. UMass-Lowell and Northeastern play at 5pm on Friday in the other semi-final. Both games take place at the TD Bank North Garden. The winners face off Saturday night at 7pm at the Garden.
