Pirates deal Slattengren to Binghamton for defensemen

Portland, ME – The Portland Pirates have submitted their clear day roster to the AHL and there will be an addition to the blueline after picking up defenseman Geoff Waugh from the Binghamton Senators in exchange for Pirates’ forward Aaron Slattengren.

Waugh played in 27 games with the Senators, scoring two assists.

The third year pro played for Northern Michigan University where he scored 38 points (4g, 34a) in his final season.

Losing Slattengren will have an affect on the Pirates offense as they’ve been offensively challenged as of late, but with the lack of depth at defense, this was a move the Pirates were forced to make. They can’t keep playing with five defensemen and have any hope of making the playoffs.

Slattengren played 52 games with the Pirates this season, scoring nine goals, 10 assists for 19 points and was plus/minus 0.
