Maine limps in

Lowell, Mass– When the Hockey East playoffs begin next weekend, the Black Bears will try to shake off a 6-0 loss to UMass-Lowell on Saturday night.

After Matt Duffy (Windham, Me) went to the sin bin at the 2:11 mark of the first, Kory Falite got his 13th of the season the powerplay 42 seconds later. Assists went to Jeremy Dehner and Barry Goers.

Mark Roebothan got his seventh of the year at the 8:40 with Mike Potacco and Scott Campbell recording the assists.

Maury Edwards got his tenth of the season on the Powerplay with 7:26 remaining in the second. Matt Duffy was called for a penalty three seconds earlier.

6:27 into the third, Jeremy Dehner got his third with Campbell getting his second of the assist. With 4:47 left, Michael Budd got his fifth. The assists went to Maury Edwards and David Vallorani.

With 17 seconds remaining in the contest, Kory Falite closed out the scoring. Patrick Cey and Nick Monroe set up the goal.

Scott Darling made 16 saves in his twelve loss in the season. Carter Hutton made 21 saves in the shutout.

It’s still up in the air who Maine will play in the first round. If Boston University defeats Providence tomorrow (2pm ESPNU), Maine will take on the Terriers. If not, the Black Bears will face Northeastern.
