Shearer-Hardy receives NESCAC honor

Brunswick, ME — Bowdoin College sophomore Kyle Shearer-Hardy (Montreal, Que.) has been named Second-Team All-New England Small College Athletic Conference in selections announced on Thursday. A defenseman, Shearer-Hardy paced the Polar Bears in 2008-09 with 11 goals.

Notching 11 goals and 10 assist overall on the season, Shearer-Hardy was Bowdoin’s top playmaker on the blue line. In conference games, he netted a team-high 20 points, while also scoring four power play goals this season. His 11 tallies are tied for the fourth-most in a single-season by a Bowdoin defenseman.

Shearer-Hardy’s top performance of the season unquestionably came in the opening game at Sidney J. Watson Arena on January 18 when the sophomore came within one point of tying the school record with a four-goal, two-assist showing. He also netted the first men’s goal in the history of Watson Arena.

Bowdoin finished their season with an overall mark of 11-12-2.
