A new Class A Champion will be crowned

Lewiston, ME– St. Dom’s will return to the Regional Finals for the first time since 2005. They defeated the two time defending State Champions, the Biddeford Tigers 5-3.

C.J. Bergeron got the empty net goal with ten seconds remaining. He got drilled as he released the puck.

“I saw three guys coming at me,” says C.J. Bergeron. “I knew I had to kill the rest of the time.”

Ben Randall got the eventual game winner at the 7:07 mark. There was a nice dish from Alex Parker and CJ Bergeron.

Derek Reny got Biddeford within one with a snapshot. It made 4-3 in the Saints favor.

The Tigers put a tally next to their name first when Cam Madore lit the lamp at the 2:50 mark. Trevor Fleurent also recorded a point on the play.

Travis Roy candidate Richard Paradis would assist on the Saints tying marker when he blasted on Cody Petit. Casey Parker picked up the loose change. Ben Randall got the secondary assist.

Madore would have a nice individual effort as he slid one on the back door. It beat Shayne Curtis.

After Nick Fitzgerald took an unsportsmanlike penalty at the 15:00 minute of the 1st, Alex Parker tied the contest at the one minute mark. Casey Parker got one assist and Paradis fired the biscuit on net.

“We stayed away from that,” says St. Dom’s head coach Steve Ouellette. “We learned to walk away.”

“That gave us momentum,” Richard Paradis on Fitzgerald’s penalty to end first. Saints scored twice on the powerplay in the second and three in the game.

Three minutes later, Paradis found the back of the cage. Ben Randall made a nice cross ice dish to Paradis. CJ Bergeron also was rewarded an assist on the goal.

“I felt I needed to do my job out there,” says Paradis. “That’s my job is to score goals.”

“Their goalie kept them in it (in the second),” says Ouellette. “We should have had two more on the board.” The Saints had 11 shots in the second. Cody Petit made 33 saves in the loss.

Shayne Curtis made 11 saves in the victory. The Saints face Falmouth 8pm on Tuesday night. Waterville faces Lewiston at 6pm. Live coverage begins on Maine Hockey Journal at 5:30pm with a live blog.
