Maine falls in OT

Amherst, Mass– Despite Dave Wilson’s career high 38 saves, the Maine Black Bears fell to the Massachusetts Minutemen 4-3 in overtime.

Brian Keane got the game winner at the 11 second mark of the extra frame. Jordan Virtue and Brian Watson picked up the assists.

Freshman forward, Bryan Flynn got icebreaker 1:17 into the first period. Tanner House and Gustav Nyquist got the helpers.

UMass tied the game up in the second stanza when Casey Wellman lit the lamp. Matt Irwin and James Marcou set the goal up just 12 seconds past the halfway mark.

Maine retook the lead when Robby Dee potted his fourth of the season 53 seconds late. Chris Hahn and Jeff Dimmen also grabbed points.

Irwin got his second point of the night with 4:51 remaining in the second. Marcou and Wellman also got their second points on the night.

43 seconds into the third, Will O’Neil also got his fourth of the season. Nyquist got the lone helper.

Chase Langeraap would send the game to the extra session with 3:26 remaining. Marcou and Wellman found the score sheet once more.

Paul Dainton made 21 stops in the victory. The same two teams go back at it 7pm tonight in Amherst.
