Maine comeback falls short

Amherst, Mass– The Massachusetts Minutemen appeared to be sailing to victory through two period. Bryan Flynn had something to say about that as he scored twice in the third period. It wasn’t enough as the Minutemen held onto the 4-3 victory.
T.J. Syner’s goal with 11 minutes remaining was the eventual game winner. The assists went to Shawn Saunders and Martin Nolet.
Maine started to mount a comeback when Bryan Flynn potted one in at the 8:33 mark of the third. Matt Duffy and Will O’Neil assisted on the play.
Just over four minutes later, Jeff Dimmen cut the lead in half. Gustav Nyquist and Tanner House set the goal up.
With 5:07 to play, Flynn got an unassisted tally.
Corey Quirk got the scoring started 2:15 into the first with James Marcou and Alex Berry setting the goal up. 8:31 into the stanza, Topher Bevis gave UMass the two goal lead. Quirk and Marcou got their second points of the night.
Marcou got the third tally of the night 3:59 into the second. Casey Wellman and Chase Langeraap assisted on the play.
Scott Darling made 23 saves for the Black Bears. He falls to 9-9-3. Paul Dainton made 31 saves in the victory.
Maine plays their final two regular season games at the Alfond Arena next Friday and Saturday night.
