6:28pm: If you want to know how tough Hockey East is, all of BU’s losses have come from in conference play. They have beaten North Dakota, Michigan, Michigan St., and Denver this year out of conference. They must have one of the top schedules in Hockey East.

6:31pm: The two teams have just come out for warm ups. Maine is in their dark jerseys and the Terriers are in their White jerseys. Scott Darling led the Black Bears out of the tunnel.

6:46pm
One of the reasons BU is doing so well this year is they have 8 players that came out of the National Team Development Program. The rest of the players were top recruits from the USHL, BCHL, OJHL, EJHL, and Prep.

Matt Gilroy is probably the most sought out college free agent in the country. Along with Tyler Bozak of Denver, Gilroy has ben generating the most buzz.

Maine will be auctioning off the Black Jerseys after the game. Warm-ups are over.

7:01pm The teams have hit the ice for the announcement of the starting line-ups.

7:09pm: Game On!

7:11pm: 16 seconds into the contest, Colin Wilson got his eleventh of the season. Chriss Higgins and Matt Gilroy got the assists. The initial shot rang the crossbar.

7:15pm:
The Terriers make it 2-0 when Jason Lawrence powerplay tally. Higgins and Wilson the assists. Will O’Neil was called for hitting from behind. Maine had a great scoring chance right after but no one was on the doorstep.

7:26pm: The Higgins-Wilson-Lawrence line has to one of the top three lines in the nation. Lawrence notched his second of the night at the 8:51 mark. Higgins and Wilson setting up the goal. Higgins made a nice cross ice pass to Lawrence who tapped it by Darling. Wilson distracted the defenseman by crashing the net.

7:40pm: Well it’s in the first intermission, BU still has a 3-0 lead but the game could easily be 3-2 if Maine converted on their chances. The Black Bears controlled the play in the offensive zone for the final three minutes.

8:00pm: We are back to action and Colin Wilson makes it 4-0 eleven seconds into the stanza. Brian Strait and Matt Gilroy getting the helpers. It was a strong snap shot past Darling. Dave Wilson took over.

8:10pm: With about nine minutes into the second it’s still 4-0. Dave Wilson just made a couple of great saves on the penalty kill. Matt Duffy was in the box for holding the stick.

8:20pm: Boston University just killed off a penalty. Maine had a great opportunity when Will O’Neil tried to feed it across ton Gustav Nyquist. A Terriers defenseman got his stick on it.

8:30pm BU just killed off another penalty and right after made it 5-0 when Chris Connolly got his eighth of the season. Jason Lawrence and Nick Bonino setting the tally up with 2:40 left in stanza. Maine is back on the powerplay.

8:32pm: As I posted the last entry, Spencer Abbott got his fifth of the season on the powerplay. Robby Dee and Simon Danis Pepin got the helpers. The final horn in the second just went off.

8:50pm: We are about to get underway for the final frame. There was some ice troubles in Maine’s crease. Game On!

P.S. BU didn’t score within the first twenty seconds.

8:54pm: Colin Wilson strikes again on the powerplay 1:40 into the second. Brandon Yip and Matt Gilroy made some nice tic tac passing. Josh Van Dyk was in the box.

9:02pm: Just as the first penalty came to an end on the powerplay, Will O’Neil blasted one past Kieran Millan. Tanner House and Gustav Nyquist fed the puck to O’Neil.

9:11pm: A scrum broke out between Colin Wilson and Will O’Neil. O’Neil got a game misconduct for punching. Mike Banwell and Brandon Yip got into it a few seconds later. Yip got roughing and slashing and Banwell was shown the door for spearing. 3 on 3 hockey.

9:17pm: Kevin Shattenkirk made it 7-2 when he scored on the powerplay. I didn’t see who picked up the assists and they haven’t announced the goal.

9:26pm: I can finally put this game into the unsportsmanlike category. Jeff Dimmen threw a punch at Brian Strait. Strait did provoke him but Dimmen should of held his cool. Both players headed to the shower early. Strait got called for entering a confrontation. Dimmen got two minutes for hitting from behind and punching.

9:37pm: Eric Gryba and Jeff Marshall nights are over. Both got ten minute misconducts. My bad earlier Strait didn’t get a game misconduct, he just got a ten minute misconduct.

9:42pm: Well this game is over. All I can say is “I went to a boxing match tonight and a hockey game broke out.” I will be back with the game recap with post game reaction from both sides.
