Lewiston runs out of gas

Shawinigan, QC– The Lewiston Maineiacs could only keep up with the Shawinigan Cataractes for a period and a half. Philippe Paradis had three goals and two assists to lead the way in front of 3,541 at the Amphithéâtre de Shawinigan. Matthew Pistilli had two goals in the victory. Danick Paquette and Billy Lacasse were Lewiston’s goal scorers.

The Cataractes got on the board first when Phillip Paradis found the back of the net at the 6:11 mark on the man advantage. Maxime Macenauer got the lone assist with Etienne Brodeur in the sin bin.

Danick Paquette would tie the contest up on a two man advantage. Denis Reul and Samuel Finn getting the assists with 9:38 left in the first.

Shawinigan retook the lead when Nicholas Petersen lit the lamp for the 29th time this season with 1:28 left in the stanza. Cédric Lalonde-McNicoll set the goal up.

The lead grew to two when Matthew Pistilli found the back of the net for the 35th time this season 71 seconds into the stanza. Cédric Lalonde-McNicoll and Dave Labrecque got the powerplay assists. Eric Gelinas was in the sin bin for a minor that carried over from the first.

Billy Lacasse deked his way for his 20th of the season. Maxime Gratchev got the assists on the play at the 9:43 mark of the second.

Philippe Paradis got his second of the night with 4:38 left in the second. Michaël Bournival and Maxime Macenauer set the goal up.

In the third it was all Cataractes. Michaël Bournival got his ninth. Simon Lacroix and Maxime Legault got points 8:37 into the stanza. 1:20 later, Lacroix got his tenth with Cédric Lalonde-McNicoll and Philippe Paradis adding to their multi point night.

With 8:06 to go, Pistilli got his second of the game. Paradis continued to rack up the points. Gabriel Lemieux also had an assist. With 3:14 to play Paradis let the hats ran down with his third of the game Petersen got the lone helper. 29 seconds after, Labrecque capped off the scoring with his tenth of the season. Dominik Schlumpf and Legault contributed on the tally.
