Pirates make minor roster move

Portland, ME — The Pirates made a small transaction today releasing forward Trent Campbell from his PTO.

Campbell, signed to a PTO by the Pirates back on Dec. 28, played prior in South Carolina of the ECHL where saw action in 25 games with the Stingrays, scoring six goals, 15 assists for 21 points.

In 17 games with the Pirates, he’s scored eight points (3g, 5a) with a plus-4 rating.

After getting off to blistering scoring pace, scoring in four of his first five games, Campbell had cooled off as of late, not registering a point in his last seven games.

With Dylan Hunter returning and Nathan Gerbe close to making a return to the Pirates lineup, Campbell had become expendable.

The move leaves the Pirates with 12 healthy forwards as they will depart Portland tomorrow morning at 8am for a three-game road trip that will see them travel to Glens Falls, NY and Hershey, PA before heading Buffalo, NY for a home game at HSBC Arena, the arena of the Buffalo Sabres, Portland’s NHL affiliate.
