Maineiacs Pour it on

Lewiston, ME– On the heels of the most important day in franchise history, the Maineiacs had no trouble with the Victoriaville Tigres in the 7-2 victory.

Pierre-Olivier Morin had two goals and two assists to lead the way. Eric Gelinas and Alexander Beaton each had a goal and two assists. Peter Delmas turned away 30 shots in the victory.

The Maineiacs came out firing to start the game. Éric Gélinas went end to end and potted his ninth past Antonio Mastropietro at the 5:29 mark. Danick Paquette and Samuel Finn set the goal up. Maxime Gratchev would make it 2-0 when he scored 47 seconds later from a nice dish from Pierre-Olivier Morin.

The Tigres would have a two man advantage when Pierre Olivier Morin and Gratcheve were in the sin bin. Victoriaville wouldn’t add to their powerplay totals but five seconds after the last penalty, David Cliché banked it off the back of Delmas’ pads at the 12:13 mark.

Delmas had to stop an Olivier Hinse penalty shot when Garrett Clarke bear hugged him. Hinse put it wide.

Lewiston would go back up two when Patrick Cusack found the back of the cage at the 8:39 mark. Alexander Beaton and Pierre-Olivier Morin notched the assists. It was a 5 on 3 powerplay tally. The goal created some confusion because Kevin Dupont had a double minor and Pier-Luc Pelletier was the second guy in. After the goal Lewiston still had 5 on 3 because Dupont’s still had time remaining on his first penalty.

Billy Lacasse had a penalty shot early in the second. The puck rolled off his stick.

The third was dominated by Lewiston. They scored four times in the stanza. Pierre-Olivier Morin got a shorthanded tally at the 7:27 mark. Gelinas got the lone assist. 1:34 later, Alexander Beaton got his eleventh with Danick Paquette and Dominic Savoie getting the helpers.

With 6:28 remaining Morin would pick up his twelfth of the year. Gelinas and Beaton picked up the powerplay assists. Garrett Clarke would get his sixth of the season on the man advantage with 4:56 remaining. Billy Lacasse and Samuel Finn each added a helper.

With 43 seconds in the contest, Keven Dupont would get his third of the season. Assists went to Tyler Noseworthy and Olivier Jannard. A brawl broke out with eight seconds left. Matt Bourdeau, Garrett Clarke, and Maxime Robichaud all got a major and a game misconduct. Robichaud and Bourdeau each got a minor also.
