BC takes game one

Chestnut Hill, Mass–  The Maine Black Bears visited the defending National Champions for a pair down at the Conte Forum. The Eagles soar past the Black Bears 6-3.

Matt Price had two goals to lead the way. Joe Whitney had a goal and an assist in the victory. Tommy Cross, a Boston Bruins prospect, had three assists on the night. John Muse made 23 saves for his tenth victory of the season.

Mike Banwell, Lem Randall, and Brian Flynn were the goal scorers for the Maine Black Bears. Scott Darling allowed five goals on 16 shots. Dave Wilson stopped 10 of 11 shots he saw in relief.

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Benn Ferriero knocked one in 4:09 into the first. Assists went to Bruins prospects’ Brock Bradford and Tommy Cross. Matt Price also added his fourth of the season with 6:34 remaining. Joe Whitney and Edwin Shea added the assists.

Price would his second at the 3:52 mark. The assists were rewarded to Tommy Cross and Jimmy Hayes.

Maine would get within one with goals from Brian Flynn at the 4:14 mark. Gustav Nyquist and Matt Duffy added an assist to the assist column. Lem Randall would tally his fourth of the season at the 5:48 mark. The helpers went to Keif Orsini and Mike Banwell.

The teams traded goals 18 seconds of each other. Boston College would go back up by two at the 7:28 mark. Joe Whitney lit the lamp. Malcolm Lyles and John Muse set the goal up. Maine responded with a goal from Mike Banwell. Jeff Marshall and Kyle Solomon also got points on the play.

BC would give themselves breathing room with Barry Almeida’s goal with 9:38 remaining. Cross picked up his third assist of the night. Ben Smith also had an assist.

The only goal in the third was Matt Lombardi goal 2:18 into the stanza. Andrew Orpik and Tim Kunes tallied an assist.
