I don’t know who will be in net for Maine. You can’t go by the line-up sheet. My guess will be Darling.

1:15pm:An interesting tidbit on Providence goaltender Alex Beaudry. He spent the first half of this season with the Kemptville 73’s and the Gloucester Rangers of the Central Junior Hockey League. He had 3.54 goals against average, a .907 save percentage in 29 games. He committed to Providence on January 9th and played against U-Mass Lowell on January 10th.

Hopefully Maine can take advantage and score some goals today. Beaudry brought down the goals allowed in the three games he has played in though.

2:05pm: Alex Beaudry is the Providence starter. Nyquist has moved up to the first line. Darling is in net for Maine. See at the end of the first.

2:40pm Maine came out strong again. They had a strong forecheck the early going. Beaudry gave up a rebound and Maine had an open net but couldn’t get wood on it.

Providence didn’t too many opportunities but they go into the locker room with the 1-0 lead. Daniel New picked up the loose puck in front of Darling off a turnover. He just lifted it over Darling. The goal came with 1:42 remaining.

See you at the end of the second.

3:32pm: I for got to mention that Maine had a powerplay that carried over. They would capitalize 1:27 into the period when Spencer Abbott banged home a rebound. Jeff Dimmen fired the initial shot from the point, Robbie Dee tried to bang home the first rebound. Beaudry kicked it out and Abbott was right there.

Darling made a couple of key saves. A shot was fired from long range and it trickled past him but he was able to cover it up. He showed his reflexes as he made a quick glove save. At the end of the period he committed early but got his right pad to denie the opportunity.

Maine would go into the dressing room with the 2-1 lead when Gustav Nyquist made a nice dish to Chris Hahn would put it into the open cage. The goal came with 3:46 remaining.

4:05pm: Game going into OT tied 2-2. Nick Mazzolini beat Darling five hole.

4:15pm The game ends 2-2. No real scoring chances came in the extra frame. I will be back with post game reaction.

4:50pm: Note to Self. Make sure the recorder has batteries in it. Tim Whitehead was pleased with the effort that the team. Tim Army thought his team played well for the last 25 minutes.

I am canceling the live blog for the women game as the storm has picked up.

5:53pm: Here’s the game story. 2-0 Boston University three minutes into the second. I am out.
