Colby continues to slide in NESCAC standings

Waterville, ME — Williams College had two goals in the opening minute of the second and third periods to open up a 4-0 lead on the way to a 4-2 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s hockey Friday night at Alfond Rink.

Williams is 7-3-2 overall, while the Mules fall to 4-7-1 heading into Saturday’s 3 p.m. home game with Middlebury College.

Ryan Scott (Whitefish, Mont.) had one goal and two assists for the Ephs, including the only goal of the opening period at 14:26.

Williams then used early goals in the next two periods to open up the lead. Octavian Jordan (Waldwick, N.J.) scored off a pass from Scott just eight seconds into the second period for a 2-0 lead.

In the third period, Alex Smigelski (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) tallied just 33 seconds in off another assist from Scott for a 3-0 margin. Smigelski made it 4-0 at 5:50 on an unassisted goal.

The Mules scored at 7:46 when Michael Belliveau (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia) scored and then cut the lead in half when Michael Doherty (Lynnfield, Mass.) tallied 2:11 later.
