6:46pm: Well warm-ups have ended. We are about twenty minutes from game time. WABI will have TV coverage in Northern and Eastern Maine. I believe Central Maine the CW or Fox. I am unsure which one it is.

7:03pm The starting line us were just annouced. Dave Wilson will be starting for the Black Bears. Will be back during the first intermission.

7:50pmThe fans at the Alfond Arena are stunned after one period. The Bentley Eagles are up 2-0. Maine played great for the first 17 minutes of the contest. Jeff Gumaer would get both goals. The first one with 2:59 remaining and the second with 13 seconds left.

Maine missed on their opportunities. Gustav Nyquist had a great scoring chance but hit the bottom of the post and bounced out. I thought it was a reviewable call but it didn’t go up for review. Maine also rang the post.

Kyle Rank has made some key saves. One with 7:30 left, he was going to his right but got the left arm to make the save. He’s a freshman but came from the program that produced Steven Stamkos, the 2008 1st overall selection, the Markham Waxers. I am unsure if he played with him.

See after the second.

8:37pm At the end of two periods, it’s still 2-0 Bentley. Maine isn’t connecting their passes. They are just missing the passes.

Maine would have two early powerplays in the period. Rank did his job to keep the Black Bears off the board. The second powerplay he made two glove saves.

Bentley would get their first powerplay chance with 10:18 remaining. Lem Randall went off for contact to the head. Gustav Nyquist almost broke alone into the offensive zone. He used his speed to break away from the defenders in the neutral zone but pushed it too far. Rank was able to shoot the puck out of the zone.

Maine outshot Bentley 19 to 9 in the second. For the game its 42 to 21.

Well hopefully I have some better news at the end of the game.

9:20pm Put this one in the loss column. Bentley defeats Maine 3-1. Brian Flynn found the five hole with 10:01 remaining. It gave the team and the fans energy but couldn’t capitalize. Erik Peterson would get an empty netter from 100 feet.

A controversial no call on Bentley when Hahn was tripped up when he shot the puck.

I will have postgame recap.

9:59pmA few things from the post game interviews.

This is Bentley’s biggest win in school history. Ryan Soderquist, Bentley’s coach quickly pointed that out.

Gustav Nyquist was pretty upset with himself with missing those chances.

Tim Whitehead wasn’t pleased. He thought Bentley played pretty well.

Well time for me to finish the game story.

10:53pm

Here’s the story.
