Two Jr. Pirates to UNE

Saco, ME – The Portland Jr. Pirates announced today that forward ’89 Tyler Fleurent of Biddeford, ME has verbally committed to play for the University of New England in Biddeford for the 2009 – 2010 season.

“Tyler has truly came through our development system, he’s been in our program for four years. Over the last year in a half, Tyler has been heavily recruited by a large number of Division 1 and 3 schools. Tyler has Division 1 hockey skills in him and he will continue to get better.” Said Head Coach Jay Pecora. “UNE will be a great opportunity for Tyler academically and for their hockey program. I feel that he will make a huge impact for their program and what they are building at the school. “

This is Fleurent’s fourth season with the Junior Pirates program. Tyler becomes the Junior Pirates 49th college commitment.
Tyler is the proud son of Steve and Lynn Fleurent of Biddeford, ME.

Saco, ME – The Portland Jr. Pirates announced today that forward ’89 John Melancon of Lyman, ME has verbally committed to play for the University of New England in Biddeford for the 2009 – 2010 season.

” I first met John seven years ago when we did a hockey school in Biddeford. He’s now been with the program for 5 years and has truly gone through the whole development system.” Said Head Coach Jay Pecora. “John has been a tremendous kid off the ice and in the community. Over the last year and a half, John has really figured out his role. He’s a solid two way player and I feel going forward he’ll have success at the college level because of his work ethic.”

This is Melancon’s fifth season with the Junior Pirates program. John becomes the Junior Pirates 48th college commitment.
John is the proud son of Normand and Donna Melancon of Lyman, ME.
