Ed Harding to be replaced

Lewiston, ME – The Lewiston MAINEiacs have relieved Head Coach & General Manager Ed Harding of his duties effective immediately. Lewiston MAINEiacs owner & CEO Mark Just arrived this afternoon to make the announcement.
Mr. Harding was named the team’s 3rd Head Coach & General Manager in June of 2007 after having served as assistant coach for the previous four seasons. He was a member of the 2006-2007 MAINEiacs team who captured the Jean Rougeau Trophy as regular season champions with a record of 50-14-4-2 and 106 points. In the 2007 playoffs the MAINEiacs went on to post an impressive 16-1 record to capture the teams first President Cup, and earn a berth in the 2007 Memorial Cup in Vancouver.
Last season, in Harding’s first campaign as Head Coach & General Manager, the team finished the regular season in 9th place with 81 points and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. This season, the team currently is tied for 17th place with a record of 14-32-0-0 and 28 points.
The Lewiston MAINEiacs will officially announce their new Head Coach on Tuesday, January 13. Media will be provided full access to management, coaches, and players following the team’s morning practice scheduled for 9:30 – 11:00 AM at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée.
