Lewiston goes winless on the weekend

Shawinigan, QC– After losing to the Shawinigan Cataractes and the Montreal Junior by a combined three goals. The Cataractes came out on Sunday and defeated the Lewiston Maineiacs by a score of 5-2.

Michaël Bournival had two goals to lead Shawinigan. He also added an assist. Maxime Legault added a shorthanded goal and added an assist. Alex Grant also had a goal and an assist Antoine Houde-Caron also added a tally. Timo Pielmeier made 24 saves in the victory.

Denis Reul and Maxime Gratchev were the goalscorers for Lewiston. Adrien Lemay made 31 saves in the loss. His record drops to 1-3.

The Cataractes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Michaël Bournival got his third goal of the season 5:51 into the contest. Dave Labrecque and Philippe Paradis grabbed the assists. Alex Grant would get his tenth of the season with 5:49 remaining in the stanza. Maxime Legault and Pierre-Alexandre Vandall set the goal up.

Antoine Houde-Caron would get the eventual game winner at the 7:26 mark. Gabriel Lemieux and Alex Grant picked up the assists.

The Lewiston Maineiacs would get within one by the end of the stanza. Denis Reul would blast one past his German teammate at the World Junior Championships with 8:35 remaining on the powerplay. Billy Lacasse and Pierre-Olivier Morin set the goal up. Charles-Olivier Roussel was in the box.

Maxime Gratchev would get Lewiston’s second powerplay goal with 45 seconds remaining. Danick Paquette and Patrick Cusack picked up the assists. Gabriel Lemieux was in the sin bin.

Michaël Bournival would stretch the lead back to two at the 4:13 mark. Paradis picked up his second assist of the game. Maxime Legault added his 21 of the season with a shorthanded goal exactly five minutes remaining. Bournival picked up his first assist of the game.

Lewiston is back on the road next weekend as they face the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Friday and the Val d’Or Foreurs on Saturday.
