Different day, same result

Lewiston, Me– The Gatineau Olympiques took all four points in the doubleheader as they defeated the Lewiston Maineiacs 5-4 once again on Tuesday night. Alexandre Quesnel and Jean Phillip Chabot each had a goal and assist in the victory. Eric Gelinas, Patrick Cusack, and Etienne Brodeur each had a goal and an assist.

At the 3:27 mark, Craig England got called for interference. Lewiston wasn’t able to convert on the man advantage. England would go off for hooking at the 6:2 mark. With 18 seconds left in the penalty, Patrick Cusack found the top shelf. Etienne Brodeur and Eric Gelinas tallied the helper.

Alexander Beaton would go off for tripping at the 8:48 mark. With 10:30 remaining, Jean-Phillip Chabot flicked the puck home. Kyle Paige and Marc-Oliver Guertin grabbed the helpers. Danick Paquette would go to the sin bin with 1:41 remaining for kneeing. With 14 seconds left, Maxime Gratchev received a five minute major for spearing. He also received a game misconduct.

Just twenty seconds into the middle frame, the Olympiques appeared to grab the lead. The play went to review and the goal stood. Alexandre Quesnel got credit with the goal. Chabot and Mallette got their second points of the game. Gatineau would get it’s second goal on the five minute major when Alain Goulet blasted home a shot from the point. Tye McGinn and Quesnel got the assists.

At the 5:30 mark, Steven Delisle went off for interference. Lewiston let another opportunity slip away. With 8:54 remaining, Alexandre Touchette went off for kneeing. The Maineiacs continued to struggle on the powerplay but Filip Janosik sparked the offense with 6:07 in the second. Dany Coulombe and Alexander Beaton set the goal up. Seven seconds later, Eric Gelinas went off for roughing. Paquette found himself in the box for cross-checking at the 15:14 mark.

Right after the Paquette penalty ended, Samuel Finn went off for hooking with 2:21left in the middle frame. Gatineau couldn’t light the lamp.

Lewiston got off to a slow start once again in the third. 68 seconds into the period, Christian Ouellet-Martel got his third of the year. Joshua Dominques and Nicholas Valliere Mayer got credit with the assists. At the 4:10 mark, Tye McGinn picked up the lose rebound to make it 5-3. Touchette and England picked up the assists.

The Maineiacs crashed the net and Etienne Brodeur jammed the puck home with 13:09 left. Paquette and Lacasse were able to get a piece of the puck before Brodeur slammed it home. With 10:12 left Mallette went off for roughing. With one second left on the powerplay, Eric Gelinas found the back of the net with 8:12 left in the game. Patrick Cusack and Alexander Beaton picked up their second assists on the night.

With 2:40 remaining, Danick Paquette was called for checking from behind. 35 seconds into the powerplay for Gatineau, Alexandre Quesnel was called for tripping.

Marc-Antoine Gelinas made 21 saves in the victory. Phillip Wright made 16 saves in the losing effort. Lewiston was 2 for 6 on the powerplay and the Gatineau Olympiques were 3 for 9.
